Line Pump vs Boom Pump

Line Pump vs Boom Pump: Which One Do You Need?

Concrete pump operator at a job site

Both pumps move concrete from the ready-mix truck to the pour. The difference is how they get it there – and that decides which one is right for your job and your budget.

Choose a Line Pump When…

  • The pour is behind or under a house and a boom can’t see it.
  • There are power lines, trees or neighbours’ roofs in the way.
  • The volume is small to medium – a basement, footings, a patio, a garage slab.
  • You want to keep the cost down.

Choose a Boom Pump When…

  • You are pouring a large volume in one day.
  • You need to place concrete several storeys up.
  • The site is open with room for the truck and outriggers.
